Engine Knowledge Database

The engine knowledge database is a collation of selected characteristic technical values for engines and vehicles (e.g. main dimensions, mechanical engine parameters, fuel consumption). The data originate from official sources. Special user data can also be entered.

Within the engine knowledge database it is possible to grant different access rights on the basis of authorisation groups. Several data stocks (private, public) can be managed separately in different databases and used with equality of access. Updated information is fed in without delay and can be made available to the user separately as and when required. The various engines and vehicles are managed in a folder structure according to make. Within a data sheet, references are provided that permit navigation into different areas of data. The engines are linked to full-load characteristic lines, vehicles and multimedia documents.

Parameters are put together on a case-to-case basis for research purposes. Search results are presented in tabular form. It is equally possible to compare the parameters and characteristic lines of engines researched as it is to export the results table to Excel. In addition to engine data, design-related component parameters represent a further pillar of the engine knowledge database in supporting the design process. The engine knowledge database can also be used to perform many other tasks, such as filing reports, patents and other engine knowledge documents. The engine knowledge database is an intranet-capable web application. All computer platforms are supported that use a browser capable of running JavaScript (Windows9x, Windows2000, WindowsXP, WindowsCE, Unix, Linux etc.).
