Cockpit Systems

When are people at ease inside a car? The answer to this question depends on feelings and the way in which the passenger compartment is perceived. It is no wonder then that the perfect combination of design, ergonomics, haptics and quality is so important to a vehicle's success.

IAV experts cover the entire spectrum of interior equipment including cockpit development. We offer a broad range of highly specialized development services within this area from the concept phase to the start of production. The influence of vehicle safety and consumer tests on vehicle development is increasing steadily all the time.

This is why development focuses particular attention on occupant protection and satisfying requirements in the passenger compartment. Our experts continuously accept the challenge of cockpit development. The instrument panel not only has to be energy-absorbent and splinter-free for the protection of head and knees in case of a collision but at the same time it has to meet the demands of high-strength and rigidity in terms of structural integration and the acceptance of the restraint systems. The following development stages must meet the demands of safety and aesthetic design:

  • Concept Development
  • Design
  • Computatio
  • Testing
  • Development Control

This makes developing a cockpit a balancing act between design, comfort and safety.

Cockpit Electronics
Hardly visible but altogether important – without wiring and plug slots for the cockpit electronics, the glove compartment stays dark and the radio silent. This is where our electronics department creates everything it takes, electronically and electrically, to connect cell phones and illuminate display panels. The cockpit and all its technical finesse cannot be developed until the plug slots have been defined. Constant coordination takes place in terms of dimensions and electrics/electronics so that everything fits together when it comes to the actual trial installation. This is also helped by the fact that all interfaces within the field of cockpit development are present in-house, guaranteeing a rapid decision-making processes and coordination. Our many years of experience means we give you perfected development processes for conducting fundamental simulation work, e.g. for wiring harnesses and vehicle electrical systems, Needless to say, this also embraces EMC, electromagnetic compatibility within the overall system – for interference-free radio enjoyment while the cell-phone is searching for a network.
