V-CD

The V-CD software provides a fast and easy means to generate chain drive models (roller chain, sleeve-type and tooth-type chain drives) of single and multiple drives.

A drive model is constructed from the various elements (chains, sprockets, tensioners, guiding and tensioner rails) and their logical alignment (run). ASCII and direct interfaces to other CAE programs can be used to assign moment characteristics to the sprockets.

V-CD provides the engineer with a large number of characteristic geometric values (run lengths, wrap angles, elongation, setting of tensioner rails, etc.) and characteristic kinetostatic values (speeds, forces, friction loss etc.) for designing chain drives.

V-CD is particularly suitable for investigating and comparing different concepts during the early design phase. At the same time, V-CD is capable of testing several variants and implementing modifications quickly and easily without having to access an entire and complex CAD/CAE model. However, this tool can also be used effectively in subsequent design stages for investigating and verifying modifications.

The wide range of measurement results can be evaluated in graphic and tabular form.

Interfaces are provided for data communication with other design and calculation programs:
  • VENTIL (importing camshaft torques),
  • V.-ENGINE (exporting forces on sprocket shafts, exporting friction loss),
  • XKetSim (exporting the model),
  • CAD (exporting a model sketch in the form of an IGES file).
