VENTIL

The VENTIL/SIGMA program system is a calculation software package for designing and optimising conventional and variable valve trains.

The heart of the system is made up of the VTKIN module for kinetostatic analysis and the SIGMA module for the interactive design and optimisation of valve lift curves. Animation and a comprehensive graphic post-process can be used for portraying the kinematic and kinetostatic characteristics of valve trains. The interactive manipulation of valve lift curves takes place through the B-spline of the acceleration curve. The B-spline coefficients can furthermore be used as parameters in numerical optimisation processes.

Other classic design processes (Kurz, Stipek etc.) can also be applied. Several differentiation methods are provided for analysing cam contours. Easy-to-handle modules geared to the VENTIL data structure provide the means to define valve timing, calculate piston-valve clearances or perform complex camshaft drive moment analyses.

Tools and interfaces for production, CAD, multi-body system dynamics and charge cycle calculation support and facilitate VENTIL's use in complex CAE environments.

Realising pre-process and post-process under the TeimOrbit graphic user interface makes VENTIL an efficient tool in the field of valve train design.
