Measurement / Test Equipment
|
Engine assembly analyses take place on component test benches with power outputs of 14 to 50 kW that are specifically designed for the particular application in hand. Power loss is examined on a test bench with the pendulum machine mounted on a low-friction bearing. To conduct basic tests on plain bearings, a test bench is available on which it is possible to operate individual bearings under engine-like load conditions and, for example, determine frictional torque as well as lubrication gap in relation to the angle of rotation.
Engine test benches
Engine test benches with power output levels ranging from 120 to 336 kW are available for function and clearance tests. These test benches are equipped with pendulum machines for 4-quadrant operation. They are suitable for dynamic operation and feature indication and exhaust emission measuring systems. An acoustic engine test bench and a test bench in a test cell capable of being cooled to –40°C provide an important platform in base engine testing.
Mobile equipment for conditioning intake air, coolant and lubricant, and for generating defined gas contents guarantee a high level of test-result reproducibility.
Measurement systems for developing mechanics and optimizing NVH
High-quality measurement systems provide the basis for conducting all tests relevant to base engine development, e.g.:
- non-contact displacement measuring systems (inductive and optical)
- rotation analysis system
- strain gauge systems
- systems for the non-contact transfer of measured values
- multiple-channel measurement recording systems
- test-bench mounted and mobile multiple-channel sound and vibration measurement systems
