System Testing

IAV is an expert partner when it comes to constructing entire test vehicles in its own prototype-dedicated workshops, including the adaptation of electrical, mechanical and plastic components, and is a competent partner in terms of preparing, conducting and evaluating system tests at all levels.

Performing most of this work on its own, IAV also manages sizeable test fleets and organises reference and acceptance drives with other partners involved in the project. In order to provide reproducible tests we use database applications and employ self-developed and standard test systems. In preparing for testing, we draw up exact test schedules and comprehensive test catalogues. This involves documenting all system functions and providing them with an appropriate test routine. Our team has gathered a wealth of experience from numerous projects which enables us to fall back on a wide range of navigation test tracks – also for reference drives.

Testing is performed at our testing stations in the laboratory and by road test drives. The test catalogues that are produced provide the basis for testing. Systems are also tested in accordance with customer specifications. The results obtained from testing immediately undergo evaluation. This involves drawing up test documentation, updating fault databases, conducting fault analyses and, where faults can be verified, also providing suggestions on ways to eliminate them.

The construction of HMI test benches, in some cases integrating simulated infotainment components, in a realistic vehicle environment enables decisions to be made early on in the development process and helps to ensure the consistency of all control elements planned in the vehicle. By constructing these test beds, test stations and test vehicles, IAV provides the platform for successful testing.
