Algorithms for Engine Management

We develop client-specific functions and algorithms for ECUs in commercial vehicles

We turn innovations in powertrain technology into production-ready solutions by adding new functionalities to the engine control unit. Our development work focuses on developing software and functions for engines, exhaust-gas aftertreatment and diagnostic algorithms for commercial vehicles. With the growing complexity of structures – more and more of which are model-based – consideration must also be given to the calibratability in the overall context. This is why algorithms are being developed by closely interacting project teams from Electronics, Thermodynamics and Calibration.

Our software and algorithm developers benefit from broadly ranging expertise in developing prototype and production-ready, open and closed-loop control strategies for managing diesel engines. In addition to manual coding, code for the algorithms is extensively generated automatically on the basis of software development systems, such as MATLAB / Simulink. We can use our MPEC and IAVcon prototype control units to validate and verify the basic software and functions for controlling a prototype powertrain. We take into account the relevant requirements of ISO 26262 on the functional safety of road vehicles in developing software and algorithms for safety-critical systems and diagnostic functions.

Our Competencies in algorithm development:

  • Production-ready algorithm development for all aspects of engine, diagnostics and exhaust-gas aftertreatment management
  • Development of software for safety-critical systems and diagnostic functions from requirement to production release
  • Model-based software development
HiL and MiL simulation and software validation

We work with systems conforming to AUTOSAR, program in conformity with MAAB and provide software that can be handled in line with SPICE.
