Configuring Gaseous-Fuel Vehicles (LPG)

In many European countries, such as the Netherlands, France, Italy and Poland, liquefied-petroleum-gas (LPG) vehicles are already part of everyday street life. The benefits are obvious: Compared to gasoline and diesel, liquefied petroleum gas can cut fuel costs significantly. The emission of greenhouse exhaust gases, such as CO2, is up to ten percent lower than from gasoline vehicles. And the network of LPG filling stations is growing all the time.

There is no need for drivers of LPG vehicles to go without comfort either. Thanks to the relatively high energy density of liquefied petroleum gas, no large and heavy tanks are required – in many cases the fuel tank takes up no more room than a spare wheel. Refueling is uncomplicated and possible with all mixture ratios (propane / butane) – perfected control-unit software from IAV means the engine continues running cleanly, safely and reliably.

IAV ranks among the world’s leading providers in developing LPG vehicles. Constantly advancing our systems, we can provide the optimum solution for integrating them into existing vehicle platforms. How does the engine stay reliable under all ambient operating conditions despite the bi-fuel concept? Where is the best place to put for the tank, what is the ideal method for mounting it? Where does the vehicle body need reinforcing? How is maximum safety achieved in the event of accidents or fire? These are questions our engineers have been dealing with since as long ago as 1992 – and which we have found efficient answers for in many products at mass-production level.

Our partners benefit from the expertise we have in all aspects of the gaseous-fuel drive. On request, we can also take care of the entire homologation process for a new gaseous-fuel vehicle while it is being developed. IAV’s specialists can provide training for production staff. And IAV also attends to end-user customer service straight away and without any fuss.
