In our workshops, we can make the components for building prototypes ourselves, such as parts for engines, vehicle powertrains or plastic models. It is particularly in the early project stages that intermediate solutions of this type produce fast results – if, for instance, no detailed drawings are available or no supplier has yet been selected for specific parts. Modifying existing production parts in our workshops provides initial new parts that can be fitted – even before a drawing exists. In addition to our own workshops, we also fall back on selected partners for producing parts, such as specialists in rapid prototyping.
Whether one-off or test fleet – IAV is your partner for constructing prototypes
Since 1995, we have built around 1,000 prototype vehicles and engines – including concept, component and engine / transmission mounts as well as prototype vehicles, physical mock-ups (PMUs) and stationary engines. On request, we can build fully roadworthy and approved vehicles – besides one-off specimens, also entire vehicle fleets for endurance and field testing. Construction either takes place in our own workshops or on location at your premises. Throughout the process, we make sure that all steps are documented in detail: Each prototype comes with a “vehicle log book” (soft and hard copy) summarizing all information – for example, the installation and modification of components or the occurrence of technical problems. But our service does not end with the punctual handover of vehicles to our clients: On request, we also provide support with prototypes after they have been delivered and attend, for example, to updating the design status, or oversee development right through to the start of production.
