A prototype is only complete once it is fitted with sensors and equipment for recording and analyzing data. In consultation with your experts and the specialists from IAV, we procure the measuring systems and equip individual components – such as the exhaust-gas turbocharger – with them even before work begins on constructing the vehicle. We also install the necessary connections in the vehicle so as to allow for measuring equipment as early as the initial configuration and avoid any cost-intensive retrofitting. The places where all measuring devices are installed and the functions they perform are documented in a plan of measuring points and are also recorded in the log book for the prototype.
We coordinate the functional and organizational process of start-up
Over recent years, the significance of starting up prototypes has continued to grow. This is where we plan and coordinate the activities of our colleagues from IAV’s various specialized divisions, such as the department for control units and calibration. To give all processes a transparent structure in terms of timing and content during start-up and perform work effectively, we prepare a work schedule and timetable. This is agreed with all of the departments involved. We document all work steps and measurement readings in the log book at the start-up phase too – so that you always have a complete picture of all activities. This also goes for hybrid and electric vehicles: This is where we benefit in particular from the relevant know-how of IAV’s experts from other departments.
