New Head of Communication at IAV

Berlin. IAV has taken on the media expert Johannes Gunst as new Head of Communications. Hitherto a consultant with “Hering Schuppener”, in November the former “Stern” journalist Johannes Gunst was appointed Head of Communications at company headquarters in Berlin.

We want to maintain and expand our leading role, particularly in the face of radical changes to the rules of the mobility game with the automotive industry at the focus of lively social and political debate”, says Dr. Ulrich Eichhorn, CEO at IAV since the start of the year and previously Head of Research and Development at Volkswagen AG. Johannes Gunst, who will be reporting directly to Dr. Eichhorn, says: “IAV makes an essential contribution to ensuring that man and the environment benefit from progress, new technologies and modern mobility. There is an impressive diversity of exciting topics and stories throughout the whole group. I see the main task of my team in tracking these down and using them for relevant and inspiring communication. In particular, we hope to dovetail even more closely with the technical divisions. In the end, this is the only way for us to inspire IAV’s stakeholders and provide the best possible guidance.”
Johannes Gunst will be succeeding Volker Schiffmann in the upgraded function; Volker Schiffmann is leaving the company. CEO Dr. Eichhorn: “We would like to express our immense gratitude to Mr. Schiffmann for all he has accomplished in his many years of service for IAV.”

2004 to 2010: degree in Communication Science, Psychology and Sociology at WWU Münster University (graduating with a Master of Arts)
2010 to 2014: journalist at “Stern” magazine and co-founder of the publication’s investigative team
2014 to 2019: management consultant with the strategy communication consultancy Hering Schuppener Consulting in Düsseldorf (latterly as Director)
Since November 2019: Senior Vice President / Head of Communications at IAV in Berlin
