Formula Student Germany 2021
Showdown on the Hockenheimring
The next round of the Formula Student Germany will take place from 16 to 21 August. IAV supports the event as a main sponsor as well as with 13 up-and-coming student teams. This year, 80 teams from all over Europe have been admitted to the Hockenheimring competition with their self-constructed race cars.
Since 2006, the best student teams have been meeting annually on the Hockenheimring in Baden-Württemberg for the international production competition in order to showcase their self-designed and self-constructed race cars and compare their results in a Formula 1 atmosphere .
During last year’s Corona-related dry spell, the teams continued ambitiously working on and further developing their vehicles. And now it’s finally time: They are allowed back on the racetrack and will be competing with their vehicles in the Combustion, Electric, and Driverless categories. One thing is new this year: the teams may participate in different classes with the same vehicle, i.e. with the same vehicle for Electric and Driverless.
The expert jury will assess the vehicles according to the following classes: technical design, business plan, customer presentation, and design performance, and in driving disciplines like acceleration, skidpad, and autocross. The jury will also receive support from IAV colleagues, who already provided their expertise last week when judging the business plan and engineering design categories.
In the race with 13 teams
Like with any racing team: it’s just not possible without money and know-how. That’s why IAV has been committed to bolstering the teams – with financial support and know-how – for years.
These are the teams we support:
HTW Motorsport HTW Berlin, municHMotorsport HS München, racetech TU Bergakademie Freiberg, WHZ Racing Team WHZ Zwickau, Lions Racing Team TU Braunschweig, Team wob-racing Ostfalia Hochschule, Rennschmiede Pforzheim Hochschule Pforzheim, GreenTeam Stuttgart Universität Stuttgart, HorsePower Hannover Universität Hannover, FaSTTUBe TU Berlin, Elbflorace TU Dresden, Green Voltage Racing TU Clausthal, UMD Racing Universität Magdeburg
IAV is on site as a sponsor and as an attractive employer for students and young engineers. Our colleagues will have face-to-face contact with students at our booth, provide last-minute tips in the pit lane, and naturally keep their fingers crossed during the competitions.
