The diversity of technological progress is seeing the emergence of more and more development partnerships in the automotive industry, with engineering partners playing an increasingly important part against a backdrop of growing, responsibility and expectations. “Expertise and innovative strength will be demanded from us at an even faster pace”, says Kurt Blumenröder, IAV’s President and CEO. “This is why we need to demonstrate a high level of flexibility so we can respond to changes in product policy, even during the development phase”, Blumenröder continues.
Some 50 percent of all IAV projects are currently associated with hybridization and electrification. Already working on the next two generations of hybrid vehicles, the engineering company is expecting this technological trend to continue and these vehicles to gain greater acceptance as traveling ranges increase and more functions are added.
A similar trend is seen for all-electric vehicles. “Consumer behavior will gradually change once different propulsion concepts have been available alongside each other for a while. More and more families will own an electric car as a second or even third vehicle”, Kurt Blumenröder says.
To broaden its range of expertise, IAV invests tens of millions every year in technical facilities and its own advance development activity where concepts and solutions are engineered for the automobile’s entire technology spectrum.
