On a total area of 6,400 square meters, the facilities in Sindelfingen will include a prototype workshop and two electric motor test benches as well as office premises. IAV is investing € 13 million in the project. The new site should be ready by the first quarter 2016. "Our customers in Southern Germany are investing in their region – and we want to join them in further growth here too," says Michael Schubert, CFO at IAV.

IAV has already been actively involved with premium manufacturers in the Stuttgart region for many years. While in the past business has mainly been driven by issues such as powertrain development, in future attention will be focusing on electric and electronic system development together with vehicle development and alternative drive systems. IAV thus aims to further expand its services portfolio and will be doubling the workforce in Singelfingen to reach around 300 employees by 2020. This additional site in Southern Germany underlines IAV's claim to always be in the direct vicinity of its customers.
