Mobile test bench automation for electric drive systems
Electromobility is picking up speed. In the next few years, nearly all manufacturers will be launching new models, with a growing tendency. Developers are therefore seeing a growth in demand for suitable test benches to put high-voltage components and e-drives through their paces. Although conventional test benches can be used for this purpose, time is at a premium here, at relatively high cost.
Our IAV Auros solution is a novel system that is easy to transport and contains everything needed for test bench automation. This mobile solution turns rooms with a three-phase socket (CEE socket 400V/63A) into a high-voltage test bench of direct voltage systems.
IAV Auros can actuate and monitor up to two test units at the same time, one running in motor mode as drive system and the other in generator mode as brake. All this back-to-back setup needs is an external infeed of power loss: there is no need for any costly test bench infrastructure, and drive motors can be tested with up to 150 kW mechanical output. It can also be used for testing just one single motor.
The big advantage is that the system makes little demands of the infrastructure. At the same time, IAV Auros can be conveniently deployed in various locations and is simply ideal for international tests and road drives.
It comes with its own integrated software which is the culmination of IAV’s years of development experience. Compared to conventional test benches, it leaves nothing to be desired. All tasks for the individual tests are easily automated. It goes without saying that the mobile test bench solution also actuates other electrical components and systems, e.g. electrified auxiliary units such as on-board charger and e-turbocharger. Other features can be added on request to suit the needs of the individual customer.
