IAV is currently seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at our North American Headquarters in Northville, Michigan. We are currently looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to work with experts in the industry to take designs from concept through production. This includes developing the embedded software that controls and optimizes hardware for functional domains in the powertrain and vehicle such as driver assistance systems, battery management systems, motor controllers, body electronics systems, vehicle charging systems, etc. The Senior Embedded Software Engineer will support internal projects and work as a member of a team representing IAV on projects with external customers covering a wide range of applications. This also includes considering implementing requirements from a technical safety concept depending on the provided hardware platform.

Essential Responsibilities & Activities:

The Embedded Software Engineer will develop low-level software as well as application layer software for automotive systems by using model-based software development approaches as well as creating hand-written code. This includes:

  • Software requirements elicitation with the customer (internal & external)

  • Support of functional safety engineers for embedded SW methodology

  • Software requirements analysis

  • Software design

  • Software construction

  • Software unit test

  • Software integration test

  • Software test

  • Act as client interface within a small project team

Your skills

Requirements for the postiion are as follows:

  • BS in a relevant technical field (e.g. EE, CS), MS preferred

  • 8+ years of related experience

  • Proficiency in model-based software development using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow, Embedded Coder and/or TargetLink

  • Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems

  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (i.e. Perl, Python)

  • Experience with software configuration management tools (i.e. StarTeam, Synergy, ClearCase, Subversion)

  • Written communication skills: Writes clearly and informatively; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.

  • Willingness to work off-site

  • Must be able to drive a vehicle legally in the United States and also have a reliable means of transportation; may be required to drive personal vehicle independently to the different IAV locations and customer locations.

Preferred Experience Includes:

  • Developing AUTOSAR compliant software

  • Automotive communications networks (i.e. CAN, LIN, FlexRay

  • Rapid prototyping systems (i.e. dSPACE AutoBox)

  • ASPICE/CMMI compliant software development processes

  • Requirement management tools (i.e. DOORS)

  • Automotive electronic circuits, sensors, and actuators

  • Setting up software development tool chains

  • Experiences with real-time OS and multi-core controllers

  • Implementation of functional safety aspects in embedded software projects

  • Function as a technical expert – demonstrates knowledge and experience in a focused field

  • Experience in managing and coaching people, a plus.
