IAV covers all aspects of developing engine hardware: In advance development, for example, we investigate variable valve trains that reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions in combination with modern injection processes. We help to reduce overall vehicle mass by using new lightweight materials – such as light alloys and plastics. In developing engine hardware to production level, our experienced designers work closely with experts from other IAV departments and use state-of-the-art tools for layout purposes – this way, we can turn your project round in next to no time. We use our own optimization tools in particular for engine mechanics and charge-cycle components. Benefiting from an extremely broad database, we can offer you comprehensive consulting services in all spheres of engine hardware development.
Tolerance analysis and management
Given our many years of experience, we know that component tolerances in development projects can lead to considerable delays and extra costs. This is why our expert team of tolerance specialists provides support throughout the development process and across all of the disciplines it involves. We use cutting-edge tools, such as “Cetol” or our own “V-Tolscrew”, for conducting cross-component tolerance studies – three-dimensional as well as statistical. This allows us to identify potential problems early on, provide advice on resolving them and avoid costly modifications in subsequent development phases.
