Global Management

Our management team consists of experienced leaders: Joerg Astalosch (CEO), Dr. Frauke Esser (CFO) and Jens Pfitzinger (CHRO). They are passionately committed to developing forward-looking technologies and driving the strategic direction and growth of IAV.

Jörg Astalosch

Joerg Astalosch (CEO)

Joerg Astalosch has been Chairman and Spokesperson of IAV's Executive Board since October 1, 2023. Joerg is a trained electronics technician and a graduate engineer (FH). Following his vocational training, he studied industrial engineering in Braunschweig and completed an MBA in Spain. He began his career in 1988 at the Volkswagen Group in Wolfsburg, initially in various areas of procurement and later in various staff functions in the area of the Board of Management and Supervisory Board. From 2004 to 2006, he worked for Audi in the U.S. and Ingolstadt, and from 2012 to 2014 he was Chief Financial Officer at MAN. From 2015 to 2021, he was CEO of vehicle developer Italdesign in Turin, where he successfully drove collaboration with OEMs and new mobility partners. Before joining IAV, Joerg accompanied M&A projects at Audi AG.

Dr. Frauke Esser

Dr. Frauke Esser (CFO)

Dr. Frauke Esser has been Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of IAV since June 2025. As a doctor of law Dr. Frauke Esser brings a strong background at the intersection of finance, procurement, and legal governance, Frauke brings over 15 years of experience within the Volkswagen Group. She has led central procurement projects and served as Executive Director for Global Risk and Sustainability Management Purchasing (2021-2023). As Vice President Purchasing at Volkswagen de México, Frauke helped drive the strategic transformation of procurement on an international scale. Most recently, she was responsible for special projects in this area at the Group headquarters in Wolfsburg.

Jens Pfitzinger (CHRO)

Jens Pfitzinger is Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). He is responsible for the People & Culture division. Jens started as a member of IAV's Executive Board and Labor Director on September 1, 2024. After studying industrial engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt, he joined the Volkswagen Group in 2001 as a project manager. Most recently, he spent more than five years at Volkswagen Group China in Beijing as Executive Vice President responsible for HR, Orga & ITP and a member of Volkswagen's China Board of Management.
