Chen Qiang: The Twenty-Year Journey of Employee ID 002
In the autumn of 2005, in Anting, Jiading, a small 300-square-meter office housed a makeshift "war room" formed by pushing tables together. Thirty engineers spread blueprints into mountains of paper. The fresh sign on the door read: IAV. That year, Chen Qiang received his first employee ID, numbered 002. He said, "In engineering, what we fear most is noise, and what we love most is quiet." Thus, the company adopted a rhythm of "staying low-key, cautious, and steady"—first doing every small thing right, then thoroughly tackling every difficult challenge. (Media reports from the time also documented this "low-key and steady" beginning.)
Dual Perspectives: Documenting IAV China's 20-Year Development
In September 2025, IAV China will celebrate its 20th anniversary. We have specially invited two senior German colleagues—Volker Boese and Karsten Müller—who were deeply involved in different phases of IAV China's growth. Today, we intertwine their memories with IAV’s recent innovations in the field of electrification along a timeline, piecing together this 20-year journey.
