Start-up with campus spirit

As a spin-off of the Technical University of Berlin in 1983, IAV is one of the first start-ups in Germany. We have retained our curiosity and campus spirit for over forty years.

A strong team

Development work is teamwork. This applies in all areas at IAV: in the international specialist departments, in the agile project teams and in the Management Board.

Dr. Frauke Esser has been Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of IAV since June 2025.

As a doctor of law Dr. Frauke Esser brings a strong background at the intersection of finance, procurement, and legal governance, Frauke brings over 15 years of experience within the Volkswagen Group.

She has led central procurement projects and served as Executive Director for Global Risk and Sustainability Management Purchasing (2021–2023). As Vice President Purchasing at Volkswagen de México, Frauke helped drive the strategic transformation of procurement on an international scale. Most recently, she was responsible for special projects in this area at the Group headquarters in Wolfsburg.

Jörg Astalosch is IAV’s CEO since October 2023.

Jörg began his career at the Volkswagen Group in Wolfsburg in 1988, initially in Procurement and later in staff functions for the Executive Board and Supervisory Board.

From 2004 to 2006, he worked for Audi in the USA and in Ingolstadt, and from 2012 to 2014 as CFO at MAN. From 2015 to 2021, he was CEO of vehicle developer Italdesign in Turin, where he drove forward collaboration with OEMs and new mobility partners. He then supported M&A projects at Audi.

Jörg is a trained electronics technician and graduate engineer (FH). After his vocational training, he studied industrial engineering in Germany and completed an MBA in Spain.

Jens Pfitzinger has joined IAV as a member of the Management Board and Labor Director on September 1, 2024.

Jens was most recently Executive Vice President for Human Resources and IT at Volkswagen Group China in Beijing.

Prior to that, he held top management positions in Human Resources and Organization in the Volkswagen Group.

Jens studied industrial engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt.
