IAV Zio Insight

Vehicle development generates ever-increasing amounts of measurement data. This data forms the basis for testing and optimizing new functions. However, the volumes of data collected have long been too large for manual evaluation. That is why IAV developed the Zio Insight tool: it is easy to use and extracts the maximum amount of information from the available data. The extensive evaluation and visualization options make even complex relationships understandable. For example, a simple traffic light system indicates whether there are problems with certain measurement series. For all evaluations, it does not matter whether the data comes from a real measurement or a simulation.

Central repository for evaluation scripts

• IAV Zio Insight offers a centrally maintained repository of ready-made evaluation scripts that every developer can access.
• The scripts are defined by the users themselves – using a graphical user interface and without the need for programming knowledge.
• It is possible to automatically generate scripts from formalized test specifications.
• Over time, a library of scripts is created that can be used company-wide for data evaluation.
• IAV can also provide its customers with customized scripts as an additional service upon request

High efficiency and extensive automation

The data can be evaluated locally on the developer’s computer or in the cloud. Switching between the two options is seamless and can be done with a click of the mouse. Analyses in the cloud can be performed much faster than on a normal PC: on the one hand, higher computing power is usually available there. On the other hand, IAV Zio Insight performs preliminary calculations in the cloud based on existing data. If additional measurements are added later, only these need to be reanalyzed—a process that can be triggered automatically by defining the appropriate conditions. The data can be hosted via IAV at AWS, at any other cloud provider, or on-premises at the customer’s site.

Focus on structured metadata

In addition to the actual measured values, structured metadata from the measurements is crucial for efficient evaluation of experiments.

• IAV Zio Insight offers the option of automatically generating metadata, for example from known file types or the measurement data itself.
• Another unique feature is the AI-supported search for measurement data: the tool automatically generates the appropriate database query with metadata from any search text. This allows measurements to be found and evaluated more quickly.

Complete toolchain along the V-model

The results of the evaluations can be accessed in various formats such as Excel, HTML, or PowerPoint. They can also be imported directly into the IAV Tool Result for result management and further processing.

This highlights another strength of IAV Zio Insight: it is part of a toolchain that supports all development steps along the V-model – from requirements management to results management and final documentation. All tools have been used successfully at IAV for many years.
