28th UN World Climate Conference

IAV adopts sustainability targets

30.11.2023  —

With the start of the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP 28), IAV is setting itself binding sustainability targets for the first time. In doing so, the company wants to make a concrete contribution to climate protection.

Wind Farm Onshore
IAV GmbH has set itself sustainability targets in order to make a contribution to climate protection.

The conference began today (November 30) in Dubai. For 13 days, participating countries will discuss the necessary targets and measures to protect the climate.

Reduction of greenhouse gases

IAV GmbH has set itself the goal of reducing the company’s greenhouse gases by 13% by the end of 2025. This applies to both direct and indirect emissions (Scope 1 & 2).

"Setting sustainability targets for the first time is an important step for us in using technology and engineering for a better world."

Sebastian Galindo, Nachhaltigkeitsbeauftragter bei IAV

By significantly reducing the company’s own emissions, IAV aims to make a contribution to climate protection and align its sustainability activities with the 1.5 degree target of the Paris Climate Agreement.

Renewable energy for IAV locations

IAV has also decided to produce more renewable energy for its own use. This has already been put into practice at the Gifhorn site. An additional photovoltaic system was recently installed on the roof of a building, generating 380 kWp of electricity. The IAV site in Gifhorn already uses 100 % green electricity.

"We are convinced that diversity makes us even more successful."

Sebastian Galindo, Nachhaltigkeitsbeauftragter bei IAV

Striving for diversity

IAV would also like to further strengthen diversity in the workforce. Promoting women is an important part of this. That’s why we want around a quarter of our new hires to be female by the end of 2025.
