Mini: lifestyle and driving pleasure, all automatically

It is “one of the greatest little cars,” enthused “Auto, Motor und Sport” about the “car legend” Mini. Since its launch in 1959, the compact small car has become “the zeitgeist car of the Swinging Sixties and later a cult car for several generations”. IAV gave the Mini an automatic transmission for the first time from 2005 to 2009.

BMW had commissioned IAV as its partner for engine and transmission to equip the first Mini with an automatic transmission. At the time, this was a novelty: There had never been an automatic Mini before.

The R53 was able to go into production on time because IAV had successfully matched the vehicle, the engine and the transmission. To this end, IAV worked with partners and suppliers from Japan, England, France and Austria.
